SPOT WELDERS are a must for connecting copper to steel and brushes to fields using silver solder as a filler material as in ground brushes to the steel commutator end frame or brush leads to field coils or field coil repair.
WHY
SPOT WELD AND SILVER SOLDER
WHEN YOU COULD JUST SOLDER?
BECAUSE the temperature of most solders used in most rebuilding shops
is about 360 degrees Fahrenheit where the temperature of silver solder
is about 1190 degrees Fahrenheit. This means silver soldering
will provide a weld joint that will hold up to 1300 degrees Fahrenheit;
where solder is only good to about 361 degrees FahrenheitWHEN YOU COULD JUST SOLDER?
